Here at DirtyBoots, we’re all about putting Mother Nature centre stage when it comes to wedding photography. That’s why it was only right that our second in our Monthly Challenge Series focused on celebrating one of our favorite natural backdrops – the Magic of the Mountains.
There’s nothing easy about doing Mountain-based wedding or elopement photography. And we were blown away by the adventure, creativity and talent that you guys shared in this month’s entry in our Facebook Community!
So, without further ado, here are some of the stunning shots from the DirtyBoots #MountainCrush.
„Alberta is mostly known for Banff and Lake Louise, but my favourite mountain views are off the beaten trail. Taylor & Fraser eloped on a fall day in Kananaskis. This was the last shot of the day and I’m so glad they were up for a couple more photos, even though it was freezing out!“
„We went few days after the wedding day for an after wedding session on one of the most spectacular roads in the world, Transfagarasan, located in Romania. This is the second highest mountain pass in Romania, and it was classified as the best road in the world by Top Gear. The picture was taken at Balea glacier lake located at the top of the road.“
„The couple (Lara + Sean) are fellow New Yorkers, like us, and flew us out to California to photograph their elopement. Lara wore a Grace loves Lace dress, comfy enough to hike in and Sean rocked a J Crew suit. The day started with a sunrise ceremony at Glacier Point with just their closest friends and family, followed by an intimate brunch in the valley and ended with a hike to a stunning sunset over Taft Point.“
„This couple eloped to the Banff area in early September. After a ceremony and photos all around Lake Louise we ended the evening at Moraine Lake. If you can take your eyes off the amazing blue water that the area is known for and turn around, the views on the other side are just as amazing, especially at sunset!”
„After wanting to shoot with these two for forever, we finally met up in the Beartooth mountains. As Shay led Chase around the mountainside, he naturally reached up and held her hand with his two. I adore sweet unposed moments like this, and I love the light after the sun falls behind the mountains.“
“In Banff this past summer, we had a crazy amount of smoke from all the wildfires in Alberta and BC, and for this couple’s outdoor mountain wedding day the smoke hid all the mountains from us. Despite the poor weather, this couple was so positive and wrapped up in their love for each other that their day was absolute perfection! They refused to let the poor weather “ruin” their day and instead they simply focused on celebrating their day with their loved ones – it was one of the most beautiful and heartwarming weddings I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of. We did an adventure session the day after and it still very smoky, but just as I was waiting for them to meet me at Lake Moraine, the smoke started lifting to show off the mountains and we had this lovely sunset that was actually made more romantic by the smoke! It was pure magic!“

“This session was done at Peyto Lake, in Alberta. The couple is from the US and this was their first time visiting the beautiful canadian rockies, they were also celebrating their first anniversary which was the reasoning behind the session!“
„This adventure session at Max Patch with these two lovers was everything I hoped for and more. I almost literally have no words to describe how dang in LOVE these two really are, not to mention how sweet and adorable they are together.“
„Claire & Daniel had been planning a more traditional wedding, before realising that this just didn’t feel right for them. They opted for a secret elopement on Skye, Scotland instead. The weather in Scotland is notoriously changeable…and there is a saying that you can experience four seasons in one day! This proved to be true in their case – these guys totally embraced it all! This is one of our favourite images from a truly romantic elopement adventure that it was an honour to be part of.“
„This photo was taken in American Fork Canyon, Utah. The couple are two of my friends that I know from dance (he’s a b-boy, she’s an urban dancer/choreographer). They got married earlier this year and didn’t get a chance to take bridals, so we headed out to the mountains to catch the fall leaves.“
„Ibiza is an island that is a place full of magic. The famous place is Es Vedra the beautiful rock mountain in this picture. Fo me it was the first time in this fantastic place and i definitely recommend you to go here! It is so soothing and you have beautiful light for your photos.”
„This was shot when we were “done” and walking back to our cabin for dinner. I turned around and the sky had completely changed. I told them to stop exactly where they were so I could take what I knew would be the photo of the day. It perfectly captured them as a couple and the place they chose to exchange vows. Best feeling ever.“
